About Us

Teachers

Erica - Art

My name is Erica Tompkins, and I am a homeschooling mother of 5, who is passionate about Jesus, family and art! My artwork hangs in the homes of Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, Deejay Duffey of “Basketball Wives”, UFC champion Justin Wren, Kenyon Coleman of the Dallas Cowboys, Olivia Holt of the Disney Channel and many more homes and offices throughout the DFW area.  I believe that making artwork is not only therapeutic and is accessible for everyone, but that it brings Glory to God, the ultimate artist and Creator!

Ian & Gavrielle - S.T.E.M.

Ian and Gavrielle Allison are parents of 4. Ian owns his company providing IT consulting and recruiting services, and Gavrielle was a public school teacher prior to children. They have since adopted Charlotte Mason educational principles in their homeschooling. Both have a passion for practical hands-on education that enables discovery of God’s operational design.

Amanda Greer

Pre-School

My name is Amanda Greer, and I am a homeschool mom of one. I taught preschool for three years during my daughter’s time there. I believe in learning through play. Children need a lot of time to play and explore. We’ll work together on creating a child-centered environment with a focus on creativeness, exploration, reading, music, and more.

Mirsa Cruz

Spanish

I am a homeschool mom of 4 and a native Spanish speaker.  Prior to homeschooling, I worked in healthcare where one of my roles was being a medical interpreter. I have also interpreted/translated in real time for public speakers at conference events.  I enjoy going on walks with my kids, reading aloud to them, listening to audiobooks, cooking yummy food, and drinking tea. Spending time with my family is my favorite place to be!

Tamsyn Mansfield

Nature Studies

I grew up in England, where I spent my childhood jumping in streams, exploring woodlands and caves, building fairy houses, and making mud cakes. I moved to Texas in 2011 after getting married to my husband and am now enjoying life staying home with our children, watching them love the outdoors as much as I've always been able to. I am so excited to be able to teach first-grade Nature Studies, Art, and Literacy at Beautiful Roots!
