Classes
Art
In this class, the students will be introduced to a wide variety of mediums and art techniques, including printmaking, acrylic and watercolor painting, pouring and embossing wax seals, sculpting with polymer clay and more! We will explore art history and learn about some of the great artists of the past in a way that is personal and relatable, because there truly is an artist within all of us! There is nothing more exciting to me than seeing a child realize that they are capable of harnessing their imagination and materializing their ideas into something special, whether it be a painting, a drawing, a sculpture or something entirely new altogether! I feel that children are capable of so much more than many realize, and my goal is to empower them to become artists in whatever medium they desire, to think creatively, and to create without inhibition!
Nature Studies
Nature Studies should help children develop a better sense of observation. Our goal is to help them learn how to take time to look, to listen, to linger, and observe. To get children outside and have them notice the details in nature. To relate and learn from God's natural world around them.
Physical Education
This physical education class will use field games and other agility drills to teach students to learn and utilize these skill-sets: agility, coordination, balance, power, reaction time, and speed. We will enjoy being both indoors in a gymnasium setting as well as outdoors. The students will participate in warm ups followed by new skill drills so they can have confidence when participating in each of the games and be excited to keep their bodies healthy and strong.
Spanish
Spanish is one of the top 5 most spoken languages in the world! The study of other languages is a great skill you can promote in children. This class will expose children to the Spanish language through natural immersion with a native Spanish speaker and by using a Charlotte Mason approach. Exposure to spontaneous language, words and phrases that are repeated throughout class and encouraged to do at home will allow for a gradual and natural comprehension. And because keeping things fun for children helps with effective learning, fun will of course be part of Spanish class! Vamos a Divertirnos!
S.T.E.M
Upper elementary science class will focus on STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. Our learning adventures will consist of hands-on building, experimenting and designing as we discover various topics. Experiments will involve chemical reactions, circuitry, impact designs, homopolar motors, fulcrums and much more.
